Avenue University: Free, Hands-On Training for the People Who Make Rooms Sound Right

Avenue University is our free, hands-on training where integrators, technicians and the people who design these spaces learn what makes a room work, not just what makes it look good.

Why we started it

The integrator who walks onto a site after the interiors are done decides whether a room sounds as good as it looks. For architects and interior designers, that matters more than it seems: training those people well protects the design.

That is why Avenue Sound started Avenue University. It is free, it is hands-on, and it puts people inside real rooms with real equipment, rather than in front of slides.

Programme: Avenue University, by Avenue Sound India
Format: Free, hands-on training in small batches
For: Integrators, installers and technicians, and the architects and designers who work with them
Recent sessions: 26–27 Jul 2024, a two-day acoustic training in a studio and theatre room; 12 Aug 2024, a hotel-hall session in Mumbai; 18 Oct 2024, a hotel-hall session.

“My favourite moment of every Avenue University batch isn’t on a slide. It’s the point on day two when everyone stops looking at the laptop and starts listening.”

Ashish Hingorani, Managing Director, Avenue Sound India

Day one (26 Jul 2024): it starts at the table

Before any equipment, the group learns how rooms behave, and how to read what a room is telling you.

Day two (27 Jul 2024): inside the room

Real acoustic treatment comes out of the box and into people’s hands. Placement matters, so we move it, then we listen.

In the dedicated theatre room, someone moves a panel, someone else changes one setting, and then the whole batch sits down, seat by seat, and hears the difference for themselves.

“That’s the part no manual can teach. You have to be in the room.”

Mumbai, 12 Aug 2024: measure where people actually sit

We measure at the seats, tune inside the room rather than from a spec sheet, and then everyone listens again, from every seat. It is the same calibration step we take on every home theatre we deliver.

18 Oct 2024: small batches, plenty of questions

Sessions run in small batches, in our own rooms and in hotel halls, with time for questions throughout.

“Every person who leaves Avenue University goes on to touch homes, offices and spaces designed by people in this network. When they do it well, your design gets the room it deserves.”
